SAM'S RESTAURANT AND PIZZERIA,

After 50 years in business, pizza is still made by hand at Sam's. Inside the unassuming neighborhood restaurant are green Formica tables, an old Coca-Cola cooler chest, and a handwritten list of specials, such as Friday-night fish and chips ($3.85), stuffed shells ($4.75), and Rhode Island-style chowder ($1.45 or $2.45). Sam's specialty is its "Sicilian-style" pizza ""on weekend nights, get there early before they run out! We were drawn to the seven varieties of white pizzas, such as aglio-olio, spinach and olives, and, our scrumptious choice, the "Sea of Love" (shrimp, scallops, quahogs, and fish for $9.75). Sam's also offers a selection of grinders and down-home Italian meals for under $5.
